I Love Touring Italy – The Trentino Subregion

November 30, 2009 by turkey1569

If you looking for a special European tourist destination, why don’t you consider the Trentino-Alto Adige region of northern Italy on the border of both Switzerland and Austria? Its many tourist attractions include the Dolomite Mountains, that the famous architect Le Corbusier called “The most beautiful work of architecture even seen,” glacier lakes, and Alpine forests. The region is composed of two parts, Trentino in the south and Alto Adige in the north. This article presents Trentino; a companion article presents Alto Adige.

We’ll start our tour of Trentino at Rovereto near the border with Lombardy. We proceed northeast to the local capital, Trento, and head west first past the village of Comano with its thermal waters then past the typical Trentino village of Tione. Here we turn northeast to finish our tour at the ski resort Madonna di Campiglio. There is a lot more skiing in the area, but it’s over the border into Lombardy not very far from Switzerland.

The medieval city of Rovereto, population about 35 thousand, has had its share of warfare. In 1796 Napoleon won a bloody battle against Austria. And in World War I Italian and Austrian troops fought a bloody, inconclusive battle. Every night fall the thousands who died there are honored by La Campana dei Caduti (The Bell of the Fallen) that tolls 100 times in remembrance of the fallen of all wars as a warning for future peace. This bell, cast in 1924, is the largest bell in the world that rings full peal.

The Museo Storico Italiano della Guerra (Italian Historical War Museum) was founded after World War I in order to commemorate the war and to prevent future wars. It is situated in a medieval castle exemplifying Fifteenth Century Venetian military architecture with its tunnels, moats, and towers. It is perhaps the world’s largest anti-war museum. An annex displays World War I artillery in an air-raid shelter from that time. For a change of pace, visit MART, the Museo D’Arte Moderna e Contemporaneo (Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art). The focus is on a local artist, Fortunato Depero, but the collection includes works from Picasso, Leger, Klee, Kandinsky, Lichtenstein, Modigliani, and Warhol among others.

Trento, population about one hundred thousand if you add in the suburbs, is Trentino’s major city. Its main historical claim to fame was the 1545 to 1563 Council of Trent that marked the beginning of the Counter-Reformation. The fight to join Trento-Alto Adige to Italy was a major reason for Italian participation in World War I.

The Duomo (Cathedral of San Virgilio) is a Twelfth-Thirteenth Century Romanesque-Gothic structure built over a Sixth Century Church dedicated to the city’s patron saint, San Virgilio. Whenever the Council of Trent came to a decision, it was read at the Cappela del Crocifisso (Chapel of the Crucifix) located within the cathedral.

The Sixteenth Century Renaissance Santa Maria Maggiore Church hosted many sessions of the Council of Trent. The courtyard at 18 via Rosmini contains the mosaic floor of a Roman villa of the Second Century A.D.

The Castello del Buonconsiglio (Castle of Good Counsel) started in the Thirteenth Century next to the city walls. Over the centuries it grew. This castle includes the Museo Provinciale d’Arte (Provincial Art Museum). Be sure you visit the frescoes including the famous Fifteenth Century Cycle of the Months, portraying contemporary life in Medieval Trentino in the Torre Aquila (Eagle Tower) and the late Sixteenth Century frescoes depicting hunting scenes in the Torre del Falco (Falcon Tower).

Other sights to see include several historic churches, underground remains of Roman streets and villas, the modernistic train station, the Museo Storico in Trento (Trento Historical Museum) scheduled to reopen soon if not already, and the Museo dell’Aeronautica Gianni Caproni (Gianni Caproni Aeronautical Museum) located at the airport. Check out the Mountain Film Festival.

Not far from Trento, especially if you are willing to drive on Alpine roads competing against Alpine drivers, are two great sites; the medieval spa town of Levico Terme and the Alpine Botanical Garden home to more than one thousand species of plants originating in the Alps and other mountain ranges across the globe. Madonna di Campiglio advertises itself as Italy’s number one ski resort. The clientele is mostly Italian and the slopes are generally intermediate level, but there are slopes for beginners and experts as well. The resort boasts 57 lifts and 150 kilometers (90 miles) of ski runs with a capacity of over thirty thousand skiers per hour. There are 40 kilometers (25 miles) of cross-country ski trails. You can go to the city center and back without ever removing your skis. For a change of pace, visit the nearby Adamello-Brenta Natural Park encompassing 450 kilometers (300 miles) of mountain paths, but you will have to remove your skis to do so. This resort recently hosted the Snowboard World Championships. Head a bit north to Campo Carlo Magno, a mountain pass that Charlemagne is said to have traversed on the way to his coronation in Rome way back in the year 800.

Since you have come this far you should consider visiting two more sites; Bormio about sixty miles (one hundred kilometers) northwest of Madonna di Campiglio and Passo dello Stelvio about twelve miles (twenty kilometers) north of Bormio just south of the Swiss border. These sites are in the Lombardy region, far from the cities and towns described in our various Lombardy articles. Briefly, Bormio has lots of long pistes and a one mile drop. You will find Roman baths (frequented by none other than Leonardo da Vinci) and a spa. Bormio is an entry point to the largest national park in the Alps, Parco Nazionale dello Stelvio with six hundred different species of mushrooms. Passo dello Stelvio is the second highest pass in Europe.

What about food? Trentino cuisine has a real Alpine accent and includes plenty of butter, cheese, game, and wild mushrooms, dozens of which can be found in local markets. The nearly three hundred lakes and rivers furnish plenty of fish. Expect to eat potato, buckwheat, and mostly corn polenta. A major contender for Italy’s most weirdly named dish is Strangolapreti (Priest Strangler). No record actually exists of priests giving up the ghost when faced with these Spinach, Egg, and Cheese Gnocchi but the idea was that their delicate throats couldn’t handle these robust Gnocchi.

Let’s suggest a sample menu, one of many. Start with Orzetto (Barley Soup with Ham). Then try Trota alla Trentina (Marinated Trout in Lemon and Red Wine Sauce). For dessert indulge yourself with Zelten (Wheat Cake with Dried Fruits and Nuts). Be sure to increase your dining pleasure by including local wines with your meal.

We conclude with a quick look at Trentino-Alto Adige wine. Trentino-Alto Adige ranks 16th among the 20 Italian regions for acreage devoted to wine grapes and 14th for total annual wine production. The region produces approximately 55% red and 45% white wine. There are eight DOC wines of which six are found in Trentino (one DOC wine is shared with Alto Adige and another with Alto Adige and with Veneto.) DOC stands for Denominazione di Origine Controllata, translated as Denomination of Controlled Origin, presumably a high-quality wine. A whopping 79.1% of Trentino-Alto Adige wine carries the DOC designation, which is far and away the highest percentage in Italy.

The Trentino DOC covers the entire Trento province and provides over twenty types of wine. The most recent Trento-Alto Adige wine that I tasted was a Vino Novello (New Wine) that probably wasn’t typical of Trento-Alto Adige wine but was typical of Vino Novello wine. The less said the better. There actually is a wine called Pinot Grigio Trentino Concilio (Pinot Gris Council of Trent) but I haven’t tasted it.

Discover the King of Road Trips – Route 66

November 28, 2009 by turkey1569

Route 66 is undeniably one of the most celebrated highways in America. From some of the most picturesque views in the United States to its distinct diagonal angle that runs between Chicago and Los Angeles, Route 66 has all the elements that continues to captivate USA Road Trip lovers. Take the journey through Route 66 and discover why the road trip spells out legendary proportions!

How it all began:

Route 66 is a highway constructed in the mid-1920’s to answer the demands of the fast evolving United States economy at that time. Route 66 differs from other roads of that era, such as the Lincoln and the Dixie, because it did not follow the conventional linear path. Instead, it sprawled diagonally to connect the rural communities in Illinois, Missouri and Kansas to the towns of Chicago. These towns have a lot to offer for any great road trip. Check out the town of Galena, which is in the north-western tip of Illinois. There are several museums and historical homes there for a truly “walk down history lane” experience.

Route 66 was originally built to enable the transport of farming goods along the way. This was very difficult to accomplish before the creation of Route 66. Farmers were not the only ones to benefit from the highway, it also served well thousands of truck drivers. Offering considerably milder weather compared to the harsher climate found along the northern roads, Route 66 proved to be a better option for many truck drivers.

The evolution:

During the years before and after WWII, Route 66 thrived with the establishments built along the highway. There were inns and motels, gas stations and just about every kind of café you can think of. Tourists flocked to the road just for the thrill of being there, and to experience what was then considered the “Main Street of America.”

During the Great Depression, Route 66 bore witness to thousands of people migrating from the Industrial East to the more promising suburban towns in Southern California (San Diego, Hollywood, Los Angeles, etc.) The road became a symbol for hope. The Route 66 road trip tells a unique American story.

You can opt for a full length Route 66 adventure or break it out into bites, like visiting the Albuquerque section. Plan your trip around Attractions, Hotels, and Restaurants that include Route 66 in their offerings. There is so much to see around Route 66 that you will never run our of things to explore. Just the names are intriguing: Restaurants like Artichoke Cafe and Left at Albuquerque, or hotels like the Route 66 Inn, and attractions like the Route 66 Drive-In Theatre, National Route 66 Museum, and the International Route 66 Mother Road Festival.

Your next great adventure is just an interstate highway away!

Selection of Sporting Vacation

November 26, 2009 by turkey1569

In your next vacation, you can plan to try something really ‘different’, especially if you are ‘adventure’ person. How about trying a sporting, ‘adventure’ vacation, for a change?

A sporting adventure holiday can be a unique and exciting proposition for people who are fit, healthy and looking for a thrill! On such a vacation, it is really delightful to feel the wind in your hair, or get over the fear of the unknown in your heart. Maybe a trip to Benidorm would the ideal sporting vacation you are looking for.

There are a number of things that you need to keep in mind with regard to the selection of your next sporting vacation. A trip abroad, to watch their favorite team play, may be some people’s idea of a sports holiday. If that is what you thought sports travel is, unfortunately, your definition of sports travel is way out of place.

Ideally, a sporting holiday is a holiday that allows you take part in any number of sports. The term ‘Sports vacation’ includes adventure sports such as kayaking, rafting, snowboarding, hot air balloons and bungee jumping. This appears a fairly extreme idea, which is accompanied by the thought of a lot of energy required. So, you would be better off taking a relaxing beach holiday, if all this really is not your type of thing.

Safety on a Sporting Vacation

“How safe will I be?” – is the first question that comes to minds of most people before they set off on a sporting vacation. The security factor depends largely on the type of person you are, and the type of sport you choose. Truly adventurous people generally choose sports that have the element of risk involved. Bungee jumping and snowboarding can be particularly dangerous activities, but you need to stick to certain safety precautions to ensure that you are safe.

Thankfully, there will always be people to advise you about appropriate safety measures, no matter where you choose to go. For example, if you choose to go on a wildlife safari, you will find guides to direct you and warn you about every possible danger. Similarly, if you go snowboarding, you come across people who teach you how to do it properly. In the case of bungee jumping too, there is always somebody around to guide you and ‘fix’ you to the safety harnesses. However, no matter which adventure sport you choose to do, your safety is ultimately in your own hands!

Trendy Santa Monica is cool CA vacation

November 24, 2009 by turkey1569

Maybe the coolest California vacation you could take is a visit to Santa Monica, but be prepared for some very hot fashion and dining trends.

There are 400 restaurants around here, a lot of them considered “trendy” or “hip.”. Throw in a few art galleries, some luxury hotels and – oh yes – celebrities, and you have the makings of an eye-popping diversion from your everyday hometown.

Our recent visit to Santa Monica reminded us of why we moved to California. The weather was one of those clear-as-a-bell L.A. days that do come around more often than you might think, the haze having been efficiently removed by some winds and moisture the day before we arrived. It was reminiscent of a trip years ago we took from the soggy Pacific Northwest to Los Angeles that introduced us to what bright sunshine was all about. We couldn’t wait to return and eventually relocated to Southern California to get our regular dose of California sun.

Such weather shows off Santa Monica as it was meant to be. The views from Palisades Park are breathtaking and take in not only the expansive beaches but such distant features as Malibu on the north and even Catalina Island to the southwest. It’s no wonder that half of L.A. seems to be down here jogging or walking. Wide, tree-lined and well-landscaped Ocean Avenue stretches along the coastline offering about as pretty a downtown street as you’ll see considering this is all modern office buildings and not historic mansions.

The Santa Monica Pier is the dominant feature on the water’s edge – and also over the water — and is a favorite for families. We lingered with our five-year-old in Kids Cove, the part of the pier’s Pacific Park that has kiddie amusement rides and, when all was said and done, our daughter declared her time on the pier “the best day ever!”

But the Santa Monica Pier can also be very adult. During our visit a local anti-war organization had put up more than 2,000 white crosses on the beach to help people visualize the number of casualties from the war in Iraq. While most crosses didn’t have names, many of them did and it was obvious that grieving families had brought flowers and photos to create makeshift memorials on the beach.

Just up from the pier are blocks and blocks of shopping in the popular Downtown Third Street Promenade, an area where city fathers have taken a street and turned it into a pedestrian mall. There are fascinating shops and an unusual number of movie theaters along this walkway that seems to attract people from all walks of life – young and old, wealthy on down to the homeless. On weekends there is always an assortment of street musicians and entertainers willing to do just about anything to get a tip and a warm round of applause.

Many of the city’s restaurants are located in Third Street downtown area, although many others are spread about in various parts of the city. Our dinner choice, Thai Dishes, actually is about 20 blocks off the beach in the mid-city area and turned out to be a surprisingly affordable spot to enjoy a wide selection of expertly prepared Thai entrees. It’s not formal, but it’s good.

If you’re looking for trendy – oh, there’s that word again – the place in Santa Monica to look is Montana Avenue. There is a 10-block section of this street that has become the center of the universe for celebrity-watchers because this is where we are told the famous like to come out and be semi-real people. The businesses along here are kind of an eclectic collection of specialty stores and quiet little sidewalk cafes and more nail salons per square mile than anyplace west of New York City.

It’s impossible to walk up and down Montana without wondering if that young 30-something “dressed down” with jeans and a pullover sweatshirt is really some starlet taking a break in between movie shoots. Writer Irene Ricasio listed several local celebrity haunts in a recent article for the New York Post. “If it takes you more than 24 hours to see a star in Santa Monica” says the article, “you’re not looking.” The closest we came was seeing an obvious paparazzi stalking Montana with his camera and two-foot-long telephoto lens. No doubt someone had tipped him about a “sighting.”

The cool factor also comes from Santa Monica’s art world where the rich and famous buy while average working stiffs look and wish they could buy. According to the Santa Monica Visitors Bureau, the area is “exploding” with avant-garde galleries, museums and public art. In fact, the city averages more than 10 galleries per square mile and has a total of 38 public works of art.

The words “trendy” and “hip” can also be used to describe many of the lodgings in Santa Monica – especially the small out-of-the-way boutique hotel where we stayed most recently. The newest hotel in Santa Monica, the Ambrose is just 77 rooms and is located about a mile and a half from the beach in a quiet residential area of Santa Monica. The hotel is the brainchild of Deirdre Wallace, a 31-year-old who designed a hotel like she would have wanted during the years she was traveling and working in the film industry. The result is an impeccably decorated, thoroughly updated hotel that pays special attention to detail.

For example, the continental breakfast – included with your room – is catered by Rockenwagner, one of the local celebrity chef eateries. The rooms are done in dark brown and soft gray-green tones and furnished with stylish cabinetry, tables and chairs. The beds have just enough firmness and are decorated with Custom created Matteo Italian bed linens and duvets. Each room was designed with Feng shui in mind which, in our case, included a scenic fourth-floor view of Santa Monica and the Pacific Ocean.

The Ambrose could just as well be a health retreat. No candy and chips at this honor bar — more healthy fruits and nuts, vegetable chips and other items are featured for your between-meal snacks. Instead of soda water, it’s vitamin water. Another product on hand in your room is the Organic Honey Sugar Glow for your skin, or perhaps you’ll want to try the Power Plant Elixer Tonic.

There is also a gym on property that includes a Stairmaster, elliptical machines, pilates mats, balance balls, a ballet bar and a fitness library. If you want to read about something other than fitness, the Ambrose also has a cozy fireplace library with a variety of reading material.

The Ambrose is just the right choice for “trendy” Santa Monica – an experience far and apart from the everyday life most of us lead and a great topic of conversation Monday morning when you’re back in the office.

Congress Organisers

November 21, 2009 by turkey1569

When planning a convention or congress meeting, the first and most important decision to be made is where to host it. Choosing a venue for your event may seem like a chore, but it is much simpler than many people realise. There are many convention centres that will host an event. If it is a small gathering, you may be able to hold the meeting or small convention in some of the well-known hotels in the area. The United Kingdom is known to host some of the largest international conventions and congress meetings in the world. For this reason, there are multiple centres that are available for bookings. If you need assistance finding a suitable venue, there are local services that will help in your planning. These professional congress and convention organisers will be able to find the perfect venue. Make sure you know the size of the hall that will be needed. This will help narrow down choices. If it is a large convention that will be drawing a large crowd, your venue will have to be able to safely house the people. Smaller congress meetings can take place in many locations because of the lesser size.

Many large companies will hire a professional organiser to handle the affairs. When a professional is hired, all the details will be their responsibility. The congress organiser will handle many of the steps involved with planning and carrying out a successful congress meeting. Many of these professionals will provide complete management of the event. This will include the design of the conference or convention, guest registrations, marketing, hired speakers, and budgeting. This is a short list, just to name a few of the services professional organisers provide. They will also find an appropriate venue and do all the applicable booking. When hiring a professional congress organiser, make sure you know what needs must be met. There is no need to hire a company that provides full service when some of the work has already been done. There are various companies that offer limited services, which means the customer or client can select exactly what the organiser will be responsible for handling.

Congress organisers are very popular in the UK. It has been reported that almost one third of all conferences and conventions are handled and managed by congress organisers. These organisers are sometimes referred to as venue-finders. Since finding an appropriate venue for an event can be stressful and somewhat difficult, many companies hire this job out. The venue-finding agencies have a complete list of all venues in the UK and will match your needs with an available venue on any given date.

If you are planning a convention and have not yet hired a professional congress organiser (PCO), there is a place to start that will lead you in the right direction. The International Association of Professional Congress Organisers is an organisation that represents PCO companies and agencies. Members of this organisation are well respected and known around the world for providing exceptional services to clients. The Association will be able to provide you with a complete list of organisers in the UK as well as in other countries, if needed. You can then begin to narrow down the choices before making a decision. Most large companies already have a PCO in place. Newer companies that are just entering the congress and convention world may not be aware of these services provided. A PCO is a great way to reduce stress and save time and money when planning a big event. Congress meetings and conventions are very important to companies. This is a main form of advertising and reaching out to the public. Many times, these conventions and congress meetings are a huge source of revenue for the host company. That is why it is important to have every detail in place. Hiring a PCO will alleviate much of the worries that are associated with the planning of these events.

Professional congress organisers are usually divided by the industry in which they represent. This means that there are different PCO companies that will organise events for various industries. For example, you would not want to hire a PCO that usually manages conventions for the medical field when your company is part of the technology industry. Some people think that by hiring a PCO, they will not have to worry about any of the details. This is not so. It takes a lot of planning to prepare for congress meetings. When hiring an agency, you must know exactly what the company needs are. This will include an estimate of how large the convention will be, whether guest speakers will be needed, marketing and advertising, and various other details that make up the big picture. PCO agencies can and will make a world of difference when planning a congress meeting in the UK. Congress organisers have become one of the most used tools of the trade. A successful convention begins with planning, and this is where your congress organiser comes into play.

The Importance of Understanding the Causes of Dry Skin

November 19, 2009 by turkey1569

As we age, our skin produces less of the natural oil that helps it retain its moisture. Skin is not dry because it lacks oil, but because it lacks water. Xeroderma literally means “dry skin”.

Skin is considered one of the most important parts of the body. Skin also receives less blood flow and lower gland activity. Skin contains the hair follicles, sweat glands, sebaceous glands, apocrine glands and blood vessels.

Epidermis is the outermost layer of the skin. The epidermis contains no blood vessels, and cells in the deepest layers are nourished by diffusion from blood capillaries extending to the upper layers of the dermis. The dermis is the layer of skin beneath the epidermis that consists of connective tissue and cushions the body from stress and strain.

Nutritional deficiencies, especially deficiencies of vitamin A and the B vitamins, can also contribute to dry skin. Dry skin is common. The skin loses moisture and may crack and peel, or become irritated and inflamed. The oil glands do not supply enough lubrication to the skin: as a result, the skin becomes dehydrated.

Dry your skin gently and thoroughly, patting not rubbing. For any skin condition, it’s always better to take a natural approach. Natural treatment should always be the first type of treatment to consider when you want to take the best care of your skin.

You want to work from the inside out too. The two most common digestive culprits, that affect your skin, are not enough water and not enough fiber.

Drink plenty of water, a minimum of a quart a day. Concentrating on a diet of lots of fruits and vegetables (preferably uncooked) and no junk food, should give you an observable improvement within 30 days. Use olive oil, flaxseed oil or walnut oil in your salad.

Apply coconut oil to heal and soothe your skin. Use bath oils and moisturizers, especially coconut oil, at least daily. Use coconut oil to remove your make-up at night, like I do; it leaves a fine layer of oil to nourish your skin all night long. The best treatment I’ve found for dry skin is coconut oil.

Functions of the skin are disturbed when it is dirty; it becomes more easily damaged, the release of antibacterial compounds decreases and dirty skin is more prone to develop infections. The skin supports its own ecosystems of microorganisms, including yeasts and bacteria, which cannot be removed by any amount of cleaning.

The skin must be regularly cleaned or it’ll become cracked or inflamed.

And did I say to drink lots and lots of water every day! Skin doctors are called dermatologists; hopefully you’ll never need one. Continue using coconut oil and the healing benefits of good, clear skin, free of dryness and other skin conditions should be your reward.

Oral Antibiotic Therapy for Acne

November 18, 2009 by turkey1569

The use of oral antibiotics can be used as a next step from topical agents such as benzoyl peroxide and retinoid creams, gels and lotions. Antibiotic therapy is good for inflammatory acne and has been shown to be very effective in some patients.

In the clinical world, oral antibiotic acne therapy is usually referred to as systemic antibacterial treatment. The word systemic implies that the antibiotics travel around the blood stream; not only to the sites where there is acne, but to sites where acne is not present.

Broadly speaking, oral antibiotic acne drugs can be divided into 3 maily names:
1.Cyclines
2.Macrolides
3.Sulphonamides

The Cyclines
Either oxytetracycline or tetracycline is given for acne in a dose of 500mg twie daily. If there is no improvement after the first 3 months, another oral antibacterial should be used.

Usually, maximum improvement can be seen 4 to 6 months after treatment but in some cases treatment must be carried on for 2 years or even longer.

Doxycyline and minocycline are alternatives to the above named tetracyclines. Doxycycline may be used in a dose of 100mg daily. Minocycline offers less likelihood of bacterial resistance but may sometimes cause irreversible pigmentation. I can be given in a dose of 100mg daily (i.e. in two 50mg tablets or just one tablet of 100mg).

The Macrolides
In this case one subcategoray of macrolide is used. This drug is commonly known as erythromycin. This can be given in doses of 500mg twice daily. Although this is an alternative for the management of acne, in some cases, the bacteria propionibacteria has become resistant to erythromycin.

The Sulphonamides
The drug trimethoprim is classed as the best drug out of the sulphonamides to target acne. It can be given in doses of 300mg twice daily and may be used for acne resistant to other antibacterials. Prolonged treatment with trimethoprim may depress the bone marrow function (although this is rare) of the body; this drug should only be prescribed by consultant dermatologists. Regular bone marrow and full blood count tests should be performed when this drug is used for an extended period of time.

Oily Skin: Natural Tanning Oil?

November 17, 2009 by turkey1569

You may be doing what you can to put a stop to oily skin; exfoliating, cleansing, the whole nine yards. Yet your oil glands still produce too much sebum and all that oil can occasionally drive you bonkers. However, there are some good sides to having oily skin. True, these good things are few and far in between, and do not do much in the ways of knocking out all the negative impacts oily skin can have, but you do have to take what you can get, right?

One of the better benefits to having oily skin comes in the form of tanning. When you have oily skin and prefer to go outside and soak up some rays of the sun, you can be sure to look forward to a nice, even tan. The oil on your skin keeps it well lubricated and helps to even out the sunlight shining down over your skin. This is a pleasure that people with dry skin are not so fortunate to have.

However, you must remember that just because you can receive a nice, even tan because you have oily skin, that does not mean you are less susceptible to sun damage, sunburns, or skin cancer. The natural oil the skin produces are only meant to protect your skin from so much damage, and is not meant to halt all the UV rays sunlight brings down upon you. Your natural oil is meant as a moisturizer, not as a protective sunscreen. This is why if you choose to go outside, or even to use a tanning bed, you should look into finding a good sunscreen.

As you already have oily skin, you do not want to burden your skin with more oils from sunscreen. Important to remember is that there is a large difference between tanning oils and sunscreen. Tanning oils are meant to help you brown, but most of them do not offer protection from UV rays. If there is no SPF number on it, count it out. It can be difficult to find a sunscreen that will not add to your oily skin problem. After all, it would only behoove you to buy a sunscreen, put it on your body, and then discover later that it has only helped to clog your pores, aiding in a new acne outbreak, or has simply made your skin look and feel even oilier.

Easy ways to avoid this would be to avoid lounging outside in the sun altogether, or at least as little as possible. Yet you still want your beautiful bronze tan, correct? The answer is simple; buy a self-tanning product. A spray or cream can be just what you need to get that been in the sun for hours look without actually having to be in the sun for hours. Companies have been working hard and getting better and better at getting the right colors for instant tanning products, so you do not have to worry as much about winding up orange as you might have several years ago.

If you truly wish to lie out in the sun and take advantage of the even tan your oily skin can offer you, then you should look into appropriate sunscreens to help keep your skin safe from too much damage and the development of skin cancer. You will most likely have to shop around, looking for sunscreens that are specifically made for oily skin. You can even go to online forums where the discussion is all about oily skin and ask members what some good options may be. Or you can check with your dermatologist to see if he or she has any good products in mind.

Whichever option you decide to use, always be sure to take good care of your skin so it remains strong and healthy for you in the future.
